I read widely and in most genres but romance and westerns. Here you'll find my reviews since 2007, with a few reviews of previously read books as well.

In 2012, I completed an "authors of the world" challenge, reading a book for every country (and a few other entities) by someone who'd lived there for at least two years. I expect to tag these books by challenge and country in the near future. I'm still refining my list by adding books that better meet my challenge criteria.

The Diamond of Darkhold (Books of Ember Series #4)

The Diamond of Darkhold: The Fourth Book of Ember (Books of Ember) - Jeanne DuPrau A satisfying conclusion to this series (essentially a trilogy and and out-of-sequence prequel). As in the first book, Lina and Doon take on a quest for better quality of life based on an uninterpretable document from the Builders. Though they encounter obstacles and belligerents, one can't really say they meet enemies. A hallmark of this series is that ultimately most people, even those in opposition, are rendered benign or ineffective over the course of the story, making this a good series for people who like dystopian themes but not the distress of a true dystopia.
